On Sunday 5 September over 300 riders took place in the Sportive, now in its sixth year. The charity bike ride raised over £20,000, an astounding amount which will be put towards the vital services that the Stockport charity provides for some of the nation's most profoundly disabled children and young people.
The event had special guest supporter Neil Fachie MBE, GB Paralympian cyclist and medal winner, cheering on the hundreds of riders who took chose to ride one of the four scenic courses.
The £35 entry fee paid by each rider was donated directly donated to the charity, with funds going towards helping the life changing work of the organization, who provide care, education and inspiration to children and young people with severe learning disabilities and additional communication needs.
Those taking part and raising over £50 are being entered into an exclusive prize draw to win a Pinarello Gan bicycle worth £2,500.
Routes consisted of 50, 75, 100 and 75 kilometres in length, each providing a beautiful scenic view of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Volunteers were at the event making sure riders were comfortable at each of the five feeding stations, through mobile support and to provide tea, coffee and cake at the finish line.
Tour of Britain Race Director, Mike Bennett, surprised entrants by turning up with his 'lead vehicle' together with two of the Tour of Britain support vehicles.
Dominic Tinner, Head of Fundraising at Seashell Trust, said: "What a fantastic day! It was so great to have Neil at Seashell Trust to support the event. Everyone was in such high spirits and gave the ride their all.
"Thanks to all the amazing volunteers who have made this possible and thank you to our sponsors; because of them we're able to donate the entire entry fee towards the children and young people services here at Seashell."

The date is already fixed for the next year's event. Seashell Sportive 2020 will take place on Sunday 13 September 2020.
