King’s Senior pupils are preparing to stage Willy Russell’s bitter sweet classic ‘Blood Brothers’.

The cast of pupils from Years 8 – 10 will get to the heart of this classic nature versus nurture tale of twins separated at the age seven and brought up in completely different environments, one with a wealthy family and the other on a different side of the tracks.

They meet again in later life only to fall in love with the same girl but with devastating consequences for both. Produced and directed by Drama teacher Catherine Thompson the play opens on Tuesday 5 February running for three consecutive nights at King’s Fence Avenue site.

Catherine said: “Willy Russell is a giant of the British stage and a master of tragicomedy. The cast are loving the subtle mix of Liverpool wit, wisdom and world weariness he brings to all his work.”

Pictured in the foreground are Freya Griffiths and Jemima Jordan, as seven-year-olds Eddie and Mickey, and their mums played by Eloise Webster and Mia Buchdahl.
