FORMER Macclesfield boss Danny Whitaker has taken over as manager of Bradford Park Avenue.
During his playing days, he made 450 appearances for Macclesfield Town over two spells, helping them secure promotion to the Football League.
He was appointed as the first-ever manager of the reformed Macclesfield FC, guiding them to promotion in 2021/22.
However, he was relieved of his duties in October 2022 and appointed head of player development.
A Bradford Park Avenue statement said: “Danny has an awesome record of success in both his playing and managerial career. He understands player development and has a winning mentality. He has legendary status at Macclesfield.
“Danny will work full-time at the club and will be heavily involved in the academy project.”
In a statement Macclesfield said: “Danny was a synonymous figure in the rise of our football club and will carry memories forward that will last a lifetime to all concerned at the club.
“Having played a major part with our BTEC programme and taking our U21 side, Danny’s influence and legacy on the club will last a lifetime.
“Whits will always be a legend at the club, guiding us to promotion in 2021/22 and playing a major part at the start of last season in our promotion push.”
