THE Mayor of Macclesfield David Edwardes has launched the town's 2022 civic awards.

The annual awards recognise people who have given their time to make a difference to a community group or the town.

Categories this year include community involvement, sports and leisure, art and culture and environment.

There is also a youth award, an honour for independent businesses, as well as 'Ambassador of Macclesfield' and 'Pride of Macclesfield' awards.

Nominations are also open for the winner of this year's 'Lifetime Achievement' civic award.

Councillor Edwardes, pictured, said: "Every year The mayor and Macclesfield Town Council recognise the unstinting, selfless work of our residents."

If you feel you know a person or a group that have gone "beyond the call of duty" visit www.macclesfield-tc.gov.uk/your-mayor/mayors-civic-awards/ where you will find all the information plus a nomination form.

The closing date for those nominations if Friday February 11. To receive a description of the award categories email civic@macclesfield-tc.gov.uk or call 01625 374142.

Because of the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic, the town council is unable at this moment to confirm a date for the 2022 presentations.
