Our next concert will see The Vernon Building Society (Poynton) Brass Band, return to put on a Christmas Concert on Friday 3rd December 2021 @ 7:30pm. Proceeds from the concert will be being split between the band and Woodley Methodist Church.
The Vernon Building Society (Poynton) Brass Band is one of the North-West's premiere brass bands.
Delighting audiences throughout the year with original and entertaining concert programmes, the band is a regular prize-winner at contests throughout the country.
Following the bands victory at the Regional Championships in Blackpool in 2016 the band now compete in the Championship Section with some of the finest ensembles in the brass bands world.
The band are currently directed by Stig Mærsk who developed his musical career in Denmark. The band competes some of the ensembles in the brass bands world.
Recent highlights in the bands diary have included:
- Performing the World Premiere of The Anson. Composed by Jonathan Taylor, The Anson was commissioned by The Anson Engine Museum to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the internal combustion engine.
- Being the last ever brass band to record in the BBC's famous Studio 7 on Oxford Road with a performance that was broadcast on BBC Radio.
The last two concerts have been a 'Sell Out' so I would suggest that if you are thinking that you or a friend would like to come and support us in this fund raising effort I would suggest you contact me ASAP after the 10th October 2021 I am happy to take details of Name & Number of tickets required and I will let you have the tickets once printed in October.
