Cheshire's leading musical firework at The Anderton Boat Lift

One of Cheshire's leading firework displays is back with a bang on Saturday 27 October. In an explosion of sound and colour, Canal & River Trust's iconic Anderton Boat Lift, whose giants structure is the wor;d's first successful boat lift, will be staging its annual musical firework display against the dramatic backdrop of the picturesque River Weaver. Blitz Fireworks, one of the country's top multi award-winning firework teams, aims to exceed even last year's extraordinary display. On the night - gates open at 6:30pm - family fun will include a number of exciting fairground rides as well as access to thr £50,000 themed play area. Special pre-booked tickets cost just £7 for adults, £6 for concessions, £5 for children and £20 for a family (two adults plus two children). All under three year olds go free but will still require a ticket.

Multi-award winning pyrotechnic team, Blitz Fireworks from Crewe, Cheshire is staging the fireworks. In July, they won the country's top firework award when they become 'Firework Champion 2018' for the excellence of their synchronised musical display. Visitors can see the fireworks from the lawned terraces overlooking the river and enjoy seeing the glittering reflection of the fireworks in the water.

Fairground rides will include the exhilarating spinning 'Miami', children's rides and a ghost train. Children can by a series of imaginative glow-in-the-dark toys and gadgets as well as buying candy floss. Other entertainment includes a fire engine for children to explore and a live vocalist. Delicious, freshly prepared, affordable food - ranging from pizza twists, pie, hot dogs and nachos - will be available on the night along with a fully licensed bar in the Lift View Marquee.

Graham Wood, Duty Manager, Anderton Boat Lift, said: "The Lift's musical firework spectacular is the highlight of the Lift's calender and is known throughout the region because it is quite unlike any other display. The fireworks relfect in the water because they are set off from floating pontoons and there is a wonderfuly interplay of music and sound. Last year, some visitors reported having been moved to tears by this enchanting intereaction. Combined with the dramatic backdrop of the giant lift - which is an acknowledge masterpiece of engineering and recognised with Ancient Scheduled Monument status - this is an unforgettable event for all the family."

Last week, the Lift won Cheshire’s Annual Award for Large Attraction of the Year 2018. Owned by the Canal & River Trust Charity, The Anderton Boat Lift is one of the seven wonders of Britain’s waterways and is the world’s first ever successful boat lift. The Lift is an interesting combination of working historic structure and fun, educational experience.

During the Autumn there are regular boat trips from the Lift. Visitors can either learn about the unique industrial heritage of Northwich as they travel along the River Weaver to Northwich or opt for a trip through the spectacular boat lift. Combined tickets mean visitors can also do both boat trips at reduced price.
