Local charity The Rossendale Trust is returning to the Pop-Up shop in the Grosvenor Centre Macclesfield for one week only from 14th November and they are providing opportunities for the people they support to work there.
Participants in the Trusts' WorkTaste programme will be on hand to serve customers and gain experience of working in retail. Attendees to the Oakwood activities group will be working throughout the week to print personalised products to order, offering customers a chance to buy some unique Christmas gifts.
Colin Gillespie, head of WorkTaste, the Trust's supported work placement scheme explains: "The opportunity for our tenants to work in a retail environment is extremely valuable. Retail settings involve dealing with stock, cash and card transactions and most importantly, the general public. This type of work builds confidence, self-esteem, social skills and allows interaction with both customers and work colleagues which develops a work ethic in a genuine a working environment."
Throughout the week, staff will also be available to talk about the career opportunities available at the Trust. Recently the Trust has received the prestigious Princess Royal Training Award for its dedication and commitment to staff training and visitors to the Pop-Up shop can find out more about this and about how rewarding a career at the Trust can be.
The Pop-Up Shop will be open from 10am - 4pm. Monday 14th November until Saturday 19th November and everyone is welcome.
The Trust based in Sutton, Macclesfield, provides care and support to people with learning disabilities. They pride themselves on breaking down barriers and offering opportunities to the people they support, empowering them to live independently within their local community.
