Trevor Kennerley, a tenant at local charity, The Roseendale Trust lit up Chelford recently when he was invited to switch on the lights at the Chelford Police House.

Owners of the Chelford Police House, Kerry and James Leach are renowned for their annual festive light display which adorn their home on Oak Road in Chelford every year. This year they generously decided to make the switch on of their decorations a village event, inviting residents to come together to enjoy a mulled wine and mince pie and donated to charity.

Trevor was guest of honour at the event and was given the enviable task of pushing the button to light up Chelford. With over 100 people attending the switch on, Trevor quite rightly claimed he felt like a "superstar" on the night.

Sue Heaven, Head of Fundraising at the Trust said: "We wish to express our thanks to James and Kerry for inviting Trevor to switch on this year's lights and for very kindly choosing the Trust as the charity to benefit from this event. It was a fabulous evening, a perfect start to the festivities."

Attendees generously donated to The Rossendale Trust and so far over £800 has been raised. The lights will remain lit for the festive season and donations to the fund can still be made on the Chelford Police House Christmas Light Switch On Just Giving page - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/the-rossendale-trust
