HIGH-FLYING Macclesfield FC have swooped to add more firepower to their promotion push with the signing of prolific young winger Max Bardsley-Rowe.

The highly rated 21-year-old arrived at the Leasing.com Stadium with 12 goals in 13 appearances for the Silkmen's North West Counties League rivals Irlam this season.

He has put pen to paper on a deal that will span until the end of the 2022/23 season in what the club has described as "a very clear statement of intent."

And he told Macclesfield's YouTube channel: "As soon as heard Macclesfield had come in that was it for me. I was taken in about how professional the set-up is.

"I want to play at the highest level I can. Being top of the league, the club is doing something right already.

"It's great to come into a winning side. I'm going to have to prove myself to get the shirt."

He added: "I look to get as many goals as I can, to contribute and assist, that is what I'm all about."

After progressing through local youth football, Bardsley-Rowe signed for Preston North End, before moving to Stockport County.

Progressing into the university team at Loughborough, he also became a regular for Loughborough Dynamo - competing in the BetVictor Northern South East Division. A move to North West Counties Premier Division side Irlam followed.

In other player moves, midfielder Jordan Simpson has joined the Silkmen following his release from FC United of Manchester.

And left-sided defender Louis Danquah has joined Macclesfield on a non-contract basis, while 16-year-olds Oliver Ryan and Callum West have joined the first team squad.

Macclesfield have seven-point lead over Skelmersdale United at the top of the table, with 39 points from 17 games played.
