PEOPLE from Cheshire and Stockport who have played their part in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic are among those recognised in the latest Queen's Birthday honours.

The honours were set to have been announced in April, to coincide with the Queen's birthday. But they were delayed because of coronavirus.

Those honoured include Leon Mundell, a charity worker with the African Caribbean Care Group (ACCG) in Greater Manchester which supports older adults in Stockport. He receives and MBE for services to the com-munity during the pandemic.

Simon Lea from Stockport, a general store manager with Asda, has been given a BEM for his work, including personally gathered shopping lists and then picked and delivered groceries as well as care packages to the homes of customers who would otherwise struggle to get their shopping.

Cheshire's chief fire officer, Mark Cashin receives the Queen's Fire Service Medal for his work leading the county's emergency services.

Former Cheshire East councillor Ainsley Arnold has been given an OBE for services to the community in Macclesfield.

And Thomas Komoly from Wilmslow, receives the same honour for his work travelling the country to help educate children and young people about the Holocaust which he survived as a young child.
