An ambitious team of 25 cyclists have successfully completed a coast to coast challenge to cycle 146 miles for charity.

The team of Cyclist from Fortress Energy swapped their laptops for bikes at the weekend and hit the road starting in Blackpool before traveling through York and ending their route in Scarborough, raising almost £10,000 for the Amelia-Mae Foundation.

Fortress Energy, based in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, is a global service provider specialising in the provision of pipeline, process, and engineering services. The 25 strong team of riders set off last Saturday (September 26th) to take on the arduous challenge which took them through the spectacular English countryside as well as the hustle and bustle of busy cities where they received tremendous support, with some onlookers even donating money to their cause along the way which further bolstered team morale.

Martin Atkinson, Fortress Energy MD said: "It was a fantastic experience and we are delighted to have completed the challenge for such a worthy cause. The team morale on the day was amazing and we never lost sight of the reason for our challenge. Although our legs may be like jelly and our bodies aching, it was so worth it to raise much needed funds to support the Amelia-Mae Foundation."

The Amelia-Mae Foundation supports families impacted by Neuroblastoma which affects around 100 children each year in the UK. Neuroblastoma is the most common solid tumour in childhood after brain tumours and the foundation aims to create laughter and empowerment during the strenuous battle which neuroblastoma causes.

Amelia-Mae Foundation's Chair of Trustees, John Murray, added: "We are thrilled to hear the Fortress Energy team completed the 146 mile cycle challenge to help raise awareness and funds for our charity.
It is an amazing achievement indeed and we are extremely grateful that the Amelia-Mae Foundation is their charity of choice. The money raised will help us continue our vital work to support families impacted by Neuroblastoma."

The main sponsor for the charity ride was Fortress Energy's partner company Thortrium, providing accommodation, shirts and medals for competitors as well as support staff. Drillmar, QHSE Aberdeen, Boroughbridge Brick & Tiles , Signs Express Chester, Lensgo and Enterprise Car Rental Other also made significant donations, making the charity ride possible.

Fortress Energy is hoping to smash their target of £10,000 and the team's fundraising efforts can be sponsored here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/amelia-mae-coast-to-coast-challenge
