The locally well-known Bishop William has been awarded Honorary Membership of the Rotary Club of Macclesfield Castle in recognition of support for the community and support for the Annual Dragons’ Den event run by the Club.

Bishop William Pwaisiho OBE, born in the Solomon Islands, was ordained in 1975, served the community in Melanesia as Archbishop and then in New Zealand, arriving in the UK in 1997 with his family. He was appointed as Assistant Bishop of Chester in 1999 and then Rector of St James the Great Church in Gawsworth. Following his retirement, Bishop William continues to support the Diocese and Rotary activities.

Mary Grant, Rotary President, said: “The Club is delighted to welcome Bishop William as an Honorary Rotarian and to celebrate the commitment that he provides to the local community”.
