Cheadle defend a Dinamo attack

AFTER much confusion and a few farcical moments, Cheadle Town kicked off the preparations for the 2014/15 season with a prestigious friendly against glamorous European opponents Dinamo Bucharest.
After a week of confusion the game went ahead at Mottram Hall hotel where the Romanian outfit have set up a training camp ahead of their pre-season tour of the North West.
Cheadle Town announced via Twitter that they had lined up a friendly against Romanian champions and fierce rivals of Dinamo, Steaua Bucharest. Only 24 hours later another Tweet followed from the Cheadle account announcing there had been a mistake and it was actually Dinamo Bucharest coming to play at Park Road.
Despite not playing Romanian champions Steaua, non-league social media was buzzing with the news a high-profile European club were coming to Park Road as groundhoppers, football hipsters and fans from all corners were making plans to attend and give Cheadle a big crowd and a possible financial boost ahead of the new season.
However, there was another change of plans. With 24 hours until kick off there was another Tweet from Cheadle announcing that the game had been switched from Park Road and would now be played at Dinamo's training camp Mottram Hall.
More than likely at the request of Dinamo but nonetheless a blow to Cheadle who must have been delighted with the expectant crowd and financial boost this would have provided. With the game now switching venues, many people decided against the trip.
However, a crowd of around 150 did turn out for the game and witnessed an impressive second half performance from the Romanians.
