Cheshire, 19 June 2019: Cheshire goes to London's Borough Market next week to champion the county's top-quality food and drink. Plus a new food map of Cheshire, revealing where to find the county's premier producers and providers, is being launched in print and online.

A selection of top producers from Cheshire and Warrington will showcase some of the best local food and drink at Borough Market, 26-29 June. The nation's leading artisanal market will play host to the region as part of a brand-new initiative to promote the best produce from different parts of the UK.

Produce on show at Borough Market will include dairy products from Reasehealth College, the first educational establishment to showcase its wares at the venue. Tastings of sparkling white and rose wines created from the fruits of the three-acre vineyard at Carden Park, a hotel and spa near Chester, will be available on Taste Cheshire's special stall.

Visitors to the Cheshire showcase at Borough will be given a new illustrated food map to encourage them to visit the county on a self-guided tour and explore some of the best places to try produce grown, reared and made in Cheshire, as well as recommendable cafes, pubs and restaurants, farm shops and delicatessens, foodie experiences, farmers' markets and accommodation.

The map will also be available for free at food markets across the county during Cheshire Foodie Month in July, a new celebration of the cream of the local crop. Events will include Foodies Festival at Tatton Park, 12-14 July, and Taste Cheshire Farmer's Market in Chester will extend from one to three days, 19-21 July. There will also be farmers' markets across the county including Rode Hall (6 July), Tatton Park (12-14 July), Northwich (13 July), Wilmslow (20 July), Macclesfield (27 July) and Nantwich (27 July).

Mark Livesey, Chief Executive Officer of Marketing Cheshire, said: "It's fantastic to be able to showcase Cheshire food and drink at London's Borough Market. Our presence at this world-class attraction in the heart of the capital shows the quality and strength of our local producers. Putting our great producers on the nation's stage will also enable us to promote and showcase what else Cheshire and Warrington has to offer. We'll be encouraging people to make the trip to the county on a self-guided food tour using the new food map. Visitors - and residents - will be able to enjoy all Cheshire has to offer at their own pace, which will be great news for other local businesses, from shops to hotels, too."

Darren Henaghan, Managing Director of Borough Market, said: "Borough Market has always been a place where people from all corners of the country, and further afield, come together to share food with a strong heritage and cultural identity. By welcoming our friends from Cheshire to the Market we hope to introduce Londoners to the breadth and quality of food hailing from the North West of England."
