Eaton Bank Academy is celebrating after the school's Podcast Team won the prestigious 'School Communication Award' at the annual Cheshire Schools Awards in Chester. The Eaton Bank Podcast is created by a team of Year 8 and 9 students who communicate all the latest school news to parents, students and staff. The team have covered a wide range of topics from interviewing teachers about experiences of living abroad, to reporting on extra-curricular clubs, finding out about a poet's typical day and learning how to play chess.

The students were accompanied at the Awards lunch and ceremony by Higher Level Teaching Assistant Rosie Shaw. Reflecting on the teams' success, Ms Shaw commented: "We are absolutely delighted to have received the award and thrilled that our school podcast has been recognised by the Cheshire Schools Awards. The award reflects the hard work and enthusiasm the students have demonstrated throughout the podcast project. They have developed their journalism skills as the project has commenced and the school community is engaged in this project and proud of their achievements."

In an unexpected bonus, the students' achievements were also recognised by the Awards' host, Granada TV journalist Lucy Meacock. The students impressed Ms Meacock with their carefully thought out questions, listening skills and enthusiasm for their podcast. After speaking with the students at the awards ceremony, Ms Meacock invited the team to visit Granada Studios to interview her for a special edition of the podcast. Miss Shaw described the invitation as "the icing on the cake" for an "amazingly successful day for our Podcast Team". The students are now preparing for their most exciting podcast edition to date!
