Cheshire's Anderton Boat Lift near Northwich, owned by the Canal & River Trust, has announced that its seventh annual beer and cider festival, featuring bands and burgers, will be held between Friday 24 May and Sunday 26 May. In what promises to live up to the success of previous festivals, there will be twelve excellent beers from across the UK as well as four ciders, a gin and Prosecco bar and an alcohol-free bar. Once again, bands will be a key feature of the festival, which is sponsored by David Wilson Homes. During the festival there will be performances by The Dans, Reminds and The Gospel Truth Soul Band. Open from 7pm until 11pm, tickets on the night will cost £7.50 but can be pre-ordered for £5 at https://visitchester.digitickets.co.uk

Tokens will cost £2 each or ten for £15.00. Each night, freshly-sourced food, including gourmet burgers, will be available in the Lift View Marquee, located at the base of the magnificent Lift.

Timothy Turner, General Manager, Anderton Boat Lift, said: "This is one of the friendliest events of its sort in the region and the perfect place to meet up with friends for a good night out. This affordable festival features great beer (and other drinks), excellent bands, tasty food cooked on site. Now in its seventh year, people always comment on the relaxed ambience of the site and its magnificent terraced site overlooking the huge Lift and the River Weaver. This year's festival is going to be our best yet."

The Bands

Friday - The Dans

A new addition for 2019, Crewe-based 'The Dans' is a lively four-piece playing rock, funk, blues and pop cover songs.

Saturday - Reminds

The five-piece from Northwich will be back once again with covers of bands from the 1980s until now.

Sunday - The Gospel Truth Soul Band

A four-piece band from the Stoke-on-Trent area playing Soul and Motown classics from Otis Redding, James Brown, Al Green, Stevie Wonder and The Temptations.

The Anderton Boat Lift is the world's first successful boat lift and an acknowledged masterpiece of engineering. Built in 1875 and still in operation today, the Lift is a fascinating combination of working historic structure and fun, educational experience. During the day, there is no cost to enter the site, visit the exhibition, stroll around the lawned terraced site, use the lift-themed playground or visit the popular Tree Top Coffee Shop and well-stocked shop. However, there is a cost to take one of two boat trips - along the picturesque River Weaver or up the huge Boat Lift (a combined ticket is available).
