SUSO is a great, friendly and supportive place in Macclesfield for adults with learning disabilities. We have lots of activities to improve wellbeing, skills and confidence, but most importantly, we are a place where people can enjoy coming, be themselves and be with friends.

We have been getting BUSIER and BUSIER and are delighted that from June we will have more space just over the road at the Silk Museum, so we can offer an even wider range of activities – training, arts, drama and a pop-up café to develop even closer community links, raise important funds and provide work skills training to their dropper-inners.  There is a lot going on!

We are now actively looking to recruit new volunteers in a whole range of roles – support for activities, training and socials, the new café, social media, fundraising.  If you are, or you know some-one who is, looking for a rewarding way to spend your free time, want to make a difference, meet new people and have fun, then SUSO is for you.  Whatever your skills and experience, we have a role for you.

Drop-in Manager Megan said, “We are really proud of the work we do at SUSO.  We know we make a huge difference to people’s lives but we can only do that with the fantastic support we have from our wonderful volunteers.  We are really excited about this next stage in SUSO’s development, but we do need more volunteers to help us deliver it.”

We asked our dropper-inners Noor, Sarah and Nicky what they liked best about SUSO’s volunteers, and they said, “They help us, they are really nice and really caring”.  “They look after you and make sure the place is tidy.”  “Volunteers are really great. They really understand you and they help you out.”

No previous experience is needed, just patience, empathy, a good sense of humour and willingness to try new things - full training and ongoing support will be given. (All roles are subject to a DBS check)

If you would like to know more, please call Karen or Megan on 01625 424717, email admin@maccsuso.org.uk or pop in to SUSO, 25-27 Old Park Lane Macclesfield.

Get in touch and make a difference – we would love to hear from you!
