SECOND WAVE OF TICKETS AVAILABLE TO EXPLORE CHESHIRE’S TOP ATTRACTIONS FREE OF CHARGE THANKS TO ONE-WEEK RESIDENTS FESTIVAL
After the success of the first release of free Resident Festival tickets to some of Cheshire and Warrington’s top attractions, a second wave of hundreds more free tickets will be available to download from today, Thursday 21 March at 10am. The festival, taking place between Saturday 30 March – Sunday 7 April is a way of thanking local residents for welcoming more than 64 million tourists into the county each year. The Festival coincides with VisitBritain’s English Tourism Week and is being supported by Cheshire East Council, Cheshire West & Chester Council and Warrington Borough Council. Frank Jordan, Cheshire East Council executive director of ‘Place’, said: “Residents play a vital role in our welcoming visitors to the county and this free festival is a wonderful way to celebrate their contribution. I am glad there has been huge demand for the Resident Festival tickets and I hope as many people across the county sign up for the latest release of tickets.”
“Visitors often comment on the wealth of different tourist sites available in Cheshire East – there really is something for everyone - from great outdoor experiences, unique events and high-quality experiences and attractions. This year, new attractions in Cheshire East include the National Trust’s spectacular moated and half-timbered Tudor manor house, Little Moreton Hall, as well as the unique Clonter Opera Theatre, both located near Congleton. For the first time, Nantwich’s Reaseheath College’s will be showcasing its mini Zoo, featuring meerkats, porcupines capybara and alpaca and residents can also enjoy Knutsford’s spectacular Tabley House Collection. Located in a Grade 1-listed 18th century house, the collection is based around its great Regency pictures and includes thousands of historic items, textiles and furniture.”

Also open during the Festival will be the world-famous Jodrell Bank, the Hack Green Secret Bunker, Crewe Lyceum Theatre and the fascinating Nantwich Museum. Residents can also visit places with magnificent gardens, like the Jacobean splendour of Macclesfield’s Capesthorne Hall; the quintessentially English gardens of Arley Hall and award-winning Tatton Park.
Elsewhere, attractions that are opening their doors to Cheshire residents include industrial gems like the ‘Cathedral of the Canals’, the Anderton Boat Lift and the award-winning Lion Salt Works Museum, which tells the fascinating story of salt in Cheshire. Alternatively, visitors can enjoy learning about the creation of Lord Lever’s visionary model village at Wirral’s Port Sunlight Museum.

The number of tickets available will vary according to the attraction and everyone applying must have either a Cheshire or Warrington postcode.
