A longstanding local business that has just moved into new premises in the town centre was visited recently by local MP, David Rutley.

Henbury Travel, which is owned and run by local resident, Richard Slater, who has over thirty years of experience working in the travel industry, most recently as a Personal Travel Agent affiliated with Co-operative Travel, opened on 7th January at 127 Chestergate in Macclesfield town centre. Mr Slater explained to David how the 300 square foot location is ideal for his business needs, being located in the heart of Macclesfield. The premises are also opposite the Picturedrome building, where it is planned there will be a new artisan food market that would be operated by the owner of the successful food market in Altrincham, which it is hoped will further help to drive footfall for nearby businesses.

On his visit, David learned more from Mr Slater about the important work of the travel industry at this busy time of year, as people's thoughts move to booking their summer holidays. Mr Slater explained that Henbury Travel caters for a wide range of holiday types, including: family beach and villa holidays; city breaks; cruises; and much more. The firm partners with many well-known and trusted holiday providers, such as Jet2, P & O Cruises, Riviera Travel & Saga, to help local residents find the right destination, accommodation and itinerary for them.

Speaking after his visit, David said, "It is great to see another local business expanding and moving into Macclesfield town centre. I congratulate Mr Slater on the recent move into the new Chestergate premises, and it was very interesting to get an insight into the work of the travel industry at this busy time of year. I wish him every success in taking the business forward in the year ahead."
