A stunning calendar, capturing landscapes and wildlife has been produced by a keen amateur photographer and University of Chester lecturer to raise money for a Cheshire-based charity.

Dr Adam Keen, Senior Lecturer and Postgraduate Tutor in the University's Faculty of Health and Social Care, is selling a limited edition of calendars to raise money for the suicide prevention charity PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide, which is based in Warrington and is a charity close to his heart.

Featuring a red squirrel in Formby, still waters in Llandudno and a tawny owl in Welshpool amongst his selection of images, Adam, who lives in Northwich, said he chose each photograph to fit with the month in which it appears.

He said: "I have been passionate about photography for more years than I care to remember. My main choice of subjects relate to nature - landscapes and wildlife. This year I have been involved in a 1 in 52 project: a personal challenge to take one picture per week and to post this on social media and most of the images in the calendar come from this project.

"Suicide is the number one killer for those under 50, and according to some sources in the UK alone there is a death from suicide every 90 minutes. I find these statistics frightening, especially if one considers that many suicides could be classified as preventable deaths. PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide aims to reduce the number of young suicides, in part by raising awareness of the issue. Having lost a brother to suicide three years ago, this is something I feel strongly supportive of.

"It is an honour to be in a position to help the charity out, whilst also just perhaps, bringing a smile to the faces of those who buy the calendar."

PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide exists to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives by shattering the stigma around suicide and equipping young people and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour.

Chris from PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide said: "Adam's calendar is a wonderful and creative way to raise life-saving funds for PAPYRUS. We love the thought and skill which has gone into these photographs. March's photo of an owl is a PAPYRUS favourite but anyone who buys the calendar is sure to have their own."

The calendars are A3 in size (when opened out) and cost £12, with all profits going to the charity. To order one please email akeenphotographer@gmail.com or visit https://www.akeenphotographer.com/gallery.html
