The Mount Hall Bupa Care Home on Flash Lane, Bollington, Macclesfield is supporting this year's Silver Sunday by holding a special event for older members of the local community, along with their family and friends on Sunday, 7th October starting at 2pm until 4pm.

Silver Sunday is a national day of free fun and activities for older people across the UK, it celebrates the value and knowledge that they bring, to our communities. The event also aims to tackle the loneliness and isolation felt by many older people, by providing social activities to encourage them to get out, try new things and meet new people.

Mount Hall's Silver Sunday tea dance will start at 2pm. Guests will be welcomed into the "silver lounge", which will feature glitter balls and a touch of glamour. Entertainment will be provided by ballroom dancers from the local community, accompanied by a wide range of music, popularised by Strictly Come Dancing. There will also be tea and cakes and guests are encouraged to dress up for the occasion.

Jannie Holmes, activity co-ordinator at Mount Hall, said: "With the appointment earlier this year of the first Minister for Loneliness, it's clear that this is a significant issue and particulary so for older people. That's why everyone involved with Bupa Care Homes is keen to support Silver Sunday and play a part in tackling social isolation at a local level. We're holding events across the country to offer older members of our community somewhere to parrticipate in a fun activity in the company of others. I know our residents are looking forward to welcoming some new faces on 7th October."
