The award-winning Lion Salt Works Museum, based near Northwich, will be hosting action-packed family fun this Easter. There will be two creative ‘drop in’ craft activities – one to celebrate fossil fun; the other nature and the arrival of spring. Fossil Fun! Tuesday 7 April and Wednesday 8 April: Fossils hold exciting clues to the past and a world that was really different from today. Two days of exciting craft activities will give everyone the chance to marvel at and explore these preserved remains that give an insight into this lost world. No booking is required and the drop in craft activities take from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4pm and cost £2 per person
Victorian Nature Boxes and Butterflies - Tuesday 14 April and Wednesday 15 April: To celebrate the arrival of Spring, the Lion Salt Works Museum will be holding nature-based craft activities as part of ‘Social Butterflies’, a spectacular art project that celebrate Cheshire West becoming an age-friendly borough. Everyone is invited to take part in creating Victorian Nature boxes.
The drop in craft activities take place from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4pm and cost £2 per person.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Wellbeing at Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “Easter is a lovely time of year and these craft activities, suitable for people of all ages, are a great way for families and friends to have fun together. There is no need to enter the museum to take part in the activities and there is free parking, a child-friendly café, butterfly garden and imaginatively-themed play area.”
The Lion Salt Works Museum, for which there is a charge* features fun and interactive displays about the story of salt and its impact on the landscape, people and industries of Cheshire. The nine-times award-winning £10m Museum, owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council is one of the last open-pan, salt-making sites in the world and it is a Scheduled Ancient Monument with the same protection status as Stonehenge and Hadrian’s Wall.
